Begin at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Thingvellir National Park. It was here in 940 AD that Vikings established the oldest still-existing Parliament in the world. From here, venture to the thundering cascade of the Gullfoss Waterfall. This natural wonder plummets more than 100 feet into a massive canyon with walls rising upwards of 230 feet. Snap a few panoramic photos before continuing to the Great Geyser Area, where you’ll witness the Strokkur Geyser rocket geothermal water some 100 feet in the air. From here, travel to the Faxi Waterfall for a look at its salmon ladder and Icelandic sheep pens.
